Relationships are one of our greatest joys and one of our greatest challenges. Patterns of frustration and disappointment can become entrenched and hard to restore over time. Nurturing the channels of emotional intimacy through supportive Gestalt therapy heals ruptures, gives couples strategies to continue to move forward, and offers space and time to work with intention on the relationship.
I believe being in a successful relationship requires 3 fundamental things:
- Self-awareness from each partner about who they are and what they bring to the relationship.
- An ability to communicate effectively about needs and wishes.
- An appreciation for differences (rather than conflicts) in the relationship.
Without these fundamentals, couples end up hurt and distant, feeling unseen, and sometimes living separate lives without intimacy and passion.
I focus on helping people of all backgrounds and life stories come together successfully and grow with those they love. Whether you are married, have children or not, are in the beginning stages of commitment, or considering ending your connection, couples therapy can help.
Working with couples for over 18 years has shown me that most struggling relationships still have room for growth and a better connection.
I tailor my relationship services towards the unique concerns faced by a couple in whatever stage of their relationship they find themselves. My goals are to increase awareness about how you and your partner end up in the vicious cycle of continual pain and fighting, to teach you how to face your differences, and to help you build the intimacy you desire and deserve. We work together to discover the patterns that are creating the conflict, and you’ll experiment with new ways of being with each other.
If your relationship is struggling, couples therapy can help. Whether it is to build your relationship back up to the place where you know it can be or to help determine if/how to end a relationship, I am here to help.
